Computational Fluid Dynamics

CVM Tech has been providing efficient and cost-effective solutions using CFD simulation. Our proposed solutions help customers by addressing root cause in pre and post commissioning of projects phases. CFD simulations for separators, static mixers helped to verify vendor’s design. CFD applications are vast ranging from simple pipe flow to complex combustion analysis. System efficiency can be verified easily. Reactions can be enhanced in process industries. Erosion, cavitation and recirculation zones can be visualized easily. Storage tanks, sloshing tanks simulation show how transient forces impact over all structure and minimize these transient forces. CVM tech offers quick and accurate solutions based on experienced staff in that domain.

Why CFD?

Generally, Analytical flow evaluation is based on Euler’s theorem, which approximates flow is uniform, steady and incompressible. However these approximations holds good for pipe flow. But in large size and real domains flow is unsteady, turbulent and compressible. Also analytical tools do not evaluate recirculation, stagnation zones. In CFD study we shall be able to capture and visualize entire domain. Regions of flow distribution, stagnation and recirculation shall be captured effectively. Every point in domain shall be evaluated showing more realistic flow visualization. Virtual testing of an equipment is possible through this tool. Now a days it is inevitable to avoid CFD in flow field problems.

We provide following structural analysis:

  • Evaluating pressure, velocity, temperature and density in entire domain
  • Conjugate Heat transfer
  • Single Phase and Multiphase separator studies. Evaluating separation performance
  • Particle tracking
  • Erosion of material
  • Sloshing vessels internal performance
  • Seismic analysis
  • Lifting Analysis
  • Flow Induced Vibration, vortex shredding
  • Aerodynamic analysis
  • Heat and mass transfer
  • Aerospace wing analysis
  • Fluegas treatment ducts and mixing, hence minimizing carbon dioxide ; CO2, NOx, Sox capture
  • Crystallizer units

Executed Projects:

We have executed below projects for our customers in oil & gas and process industry.

Flow Simulation for Static mixers

Static mixers are used for mixing of two fluids in process plants. Mixing efficiency, flow uniformity index are evaluated.

Executed Projects

Flow Simulation for Separators

Separators are static equipment’s used to separate 2 or more fluids in different phases. Two phase separators for gas Liquid or Liquid-Liquid separation must be designed with internals ensuring separation. Three phase separators are comprises of two liquids and gas phase. Example gas, oil and water separators. These are designed to have sufficient residence time to separate based on density difference. These separators comprise feed inlet devices to distribute mixture uniformly in vessel ensuring bulk separation. Flow distribution, equipment performance and entrainment are evaluated. In slugging operation loads imposed on internals are evaluated. Flow induced vibrations are visualized. 3 phase separators simulated until flow field are developed. Residuals, imbalances and levels are monitored. Separation is represented by particle tracking.
